RSF teams up with LRSD ASPIRE Program

Big thank you to Rising Stars Foundation Academic Advisor Caleigh Kiesman for setting RSF up with another exciting Summer Camp Day! Today the Rising Stars ran a buffalo hunt dodgeball workshop at one of Louis Riel School Division’s ASPIRE program sites!

We are extremely proud of Caleigh for being the lead instructor at ASPIRE. Aside from work in this capacity, as a full time Phys. Ed teacher, Caleigh has also generously donated her time to help tutor RSF student athletes of all ages. Her ASPIRE program this summer is a program designed to promote student literacy and numeracy while providing quality physical education and recreational activities. At ASPIRE students learn through hands on activities, presenters, and fieldtrips! Their programming is made specifically to help reduce the summer literacy slump and prepare young students for the upcoming school year in a way that doesn’t at all feel like school!

RSF is happy to have members of our network supporting a program like ASPIRE and we hope to visit again in the future! We are thankful for the opportunity to teach students about the bison, and the important role the animal has always played for life here in Manitoba! Not only did students learn a great history lesson about traditional living on the prairies, they also had a chance to learn about respect and teamwork! The most important of teachings carried by the Buffalo!

Thanks again ASPIRE! And If you are interested in RSF visiting your community please let us know!!
